CURATIVE ART FACILITATOR

A form of creative art process as expression and reflections of an individual’s development, abilities, personality, interests, and concerns. Transformation art allows for bringing to light deep buried and hidden issues and talents we may have but are actually not aware of. By working with colors, clay and pencils awakening can occur in a profound way.  This artistic work offers opportunities for developing social skills, managing behavior, solving problems, reducing anxiety, aiding reality orientation, increasing self-esteem and conflict management. It is a perfect tool for team building and leadership training and having FUN!

By providing a safe and sacred space, I invite the individual to work with a variety of media and activities. Working with light and dark in watercolor painting; drawing with pencils and pastels, and clay modeling with non-firing clay we can discover our own light and darkness and work with that to embrace both. Additional activities may include: journal writing, story telling, relaxation and visualization exercises, poetry writing and reading, geometric form drawing and mandalas, meditation, toning, music and drumming, free and structured movement, nature observation exercises, and biography work. Activities are incorporated in the process according to the participant's interests.  The artwork can be initiated by the participant, though usually directed by myself. The art work serves as a record of events, which can later be reflected on and eventually understood with greater clarity.

Previous experience with artistic activities is not necessary. To those of you who exclaim “I can only draw stick people”, I say: that is a perfectly fine because it is the activity of the art making that has significance; the end product is of far lesser importance.

Sessions for individuals are usually 1 to 1.5hours.
